The second stage of the cross-country skiing World Cup season 2023/2024 starts this weekend in Gällivare, Sweden. The German national team is now presented.

Gällivare, Sweden, is the place for the second stage of this year’s cross-country skiing World Cup. The event starts on Saturday, December 2, with a 10km interval start race in freestyle technique, followed by a 4×7.5km relay race in classic/freestyle techniques on Sunday, December 3.

In a press release, the German Ski Association has named their cross-country ski team for the upcoming World Cup in Gällivare. Germany will start with 15 athletes. On the women’s side, Germany will start with 9 skiers. Already on the men’s side, 6 athletes will start for the European country.

“The conditions are also perfect at the moment – with 10 degrees below zero, powder snow, firm tracks. Exactly what we cross-country skiers want. It should stay that way. We saw in Ruka that we were doing well in the conditions with the equipment and that we were also able to cope well with the temperatures. We are looking forward to the coming races,” said German team manager Peter Schlickenrieder.
