Dream start as a professional cyclist
After being dropped from the national team, Iver Tildheim Andersen continues to impress on the bike. He has now secured three podium finishes over two weekends, including two victories.
After his exit from the national team in April, Iver Tildheim Andersen decided to focus more on cycling. Three months later, the 25-year-old signed a professional contract with the UCI Continental team Team Ringerike.
Since signing on August 1, things have progressed quickly.
A week later, he claimed his first victory as a pro, winning the time trial Skjervet Opp, the first stage of the Voss three-stage event in the Uno-X Cup.
Last week, Tildheim Andersen secured his second victory, winning the time trial in the Uno-X Cup in Glåmdal. He had nearly a 20-second margin over the next rider in the 20-kilometer race.
On Sunday, he capped off the weekend with a new milestone: the national team reject in cross-country skiing achieved his first podium finish in a mass start. Tildheim Andersen finished third after a four-way sprint for the win in the 73.3-kilometer Norgescupritt at Skarnes.
Planning a dual focus
The plan now is for his cycling and cross-country skiing pursuits to complement each other. Iver Tildheim Andersen has not closed the door on his skiing career.
The 50-kilometer race at the World Championships in Falun this winter will be held in freestyle, which motivates him.
“The World Championship 50-kilometer in Falun is a natural goal for the winter, so the idea is to sharpen my training even more towards that,” Tildheim Andersen told Langrenn.com.
