Sonjaa Schmidt secured first place in the U23 women’s sprint race in freestyle technique for Canada at the U23 cross-country skiing World Championships. Results from the sprint race.

Sonjaa Schmidt, from Canada, took first place at the Planica U23 sprint race in freestyle technique with a total time of 2:35.82. The Canadian cross-country skier was followed by Hilla Niemela, from Finland, 0.48 seconds back.

Maria Hartz Melling, from Norway, completed the podium in third place, 056 seconds behind the winner. 

Verena Veit, from Germany, and Marina Kälin, from Switzerland, rounded out the top 5 by finishing 4th and 5th, respectively.
