Beijing Paralympics: Middle Distance Visually Impaired, Standing and Sitting Results

Six more gold medals were distributed on the second last day of the para cross-country skiing events at the 2022 Beijing Winter Paralympic Games. Results from the visually impaired, standing and sitting middle distance races.

PARA CROSS-COUNTRY SKIING – MIDDLE DISTANCE VISUALLY IMPAIRED 

In the 12.5km men’s middle distance visually impaired race, Brian McKeever (Graham Nishikawa – guide), from Canada, won the gold medal. From Sweden, Zebastian Modin (Emil Haag – guide) secured the silver medal, and Dmytro Suiarko (Oleksandr Nikonovych – guide), from Ukraine, completed the podium with the bronze medal. 

In the women’s 10km middle-distance visually impaired race, Germany’s Linn Kazmaier (Florian Baumann – guide) secured the gold medal. From China, Yue Wang (Yalin Li – guide) finished in second place and got the silver medal. From Austria, Carina Edlinger (Lorenz Josef Lampl – guide) completed the podium in the third position and got the bronze medal.

  1. Linn Kazmaier (Florian Baumann – guide) (GER), 41:40.8
  2. Yue Wang (Yalin Li – guide) (CHN), 42:20.3
  3. Carina Edlinger (Lorenz Josef Lampl – guide) (AUT), 43:13.9

PARA CROSS-COUNTRY SKIING – MIDDLE DISTANCE STANDING 

In the 12.5km men’s middle distance standing race, Chenyang Wang, from China, won the gold medal. Benjamin Daviet, from France, secured the silver medal, and China’s Jiayun Cai completed the podium with the bronze medal. 

Ukraine’s Oleksandra Kononova secured the gold medal in the women’s 10km middle distance standing race. Natalie Wilkie, from Canada, finished in second place and got the silver medal. Iryna Bui, from Ukraine, completed the podium in third place and secured the bronze medal.

  1. Chenyang Wang (CHN), 33:07.8
  2. Benjamin Daviet (FRA), 33:09.1
  3. Jiayun Cai (CHN), 33:18.0

Top 3 – Para Cross-Country Skiing – 15km Women’s Standing

  1. Oleksandra Kononova (UKR), 41:18.0
  2. Natalie Wilkie (CAN), 41:45.3
  3. Iryna Bui (UKR), 41:47.1

In the 10km men’s middle distance sitting race, Zhongwu Mao, from China, won the gold medal. His compatriot Peng Zheng secured the silver medal, and Italy’s Giuseppe Romele completed the podium with the bronze medal. 

China’s Hongqiong Yang secured the gold medal in the women’s 7.5km middle distance sitting race. Oksana Masters, from the USA, finished in second place and got the silver medal. Jing Ma, from China, completed the podium in third place and secured the bronze medal.
