Alfred Buskqvist has been without a team since Team Ramudden disbanded last spring. He has now signed with a Finnish Pro Team.

Alfred Buskqvist is one of the Ski Classics Pro Team athletes who has been without a team since the season ended in April when his previous team, Team Ramudden, was disbanded. He has now found a new Pro Team, joining the Finnish Team Edux.

“I had actually been focused on another team all summer, which was the plan all along, but it took longer than expected to secure funding and other details,” Alfred Buskqvist told Langd.se.

Progress made quickly

When the other team didn’t work out, he reconnected with Edux.

“I had heard good things about Team Edux already last spring, that they had a lot of exciting plans. But it wasn’t until just a couple of weeks ago that I called Isac (Holmström) to see how things were shaping up for the winter. They were really enthusiastic, and it felt great when I spoke with them.”

After the conversation, things moved quickly.

“He sent a contract proposal the same afternoon, and it felt like everything was falling into place. They had a solid plan for training camps ahead, including a high-altitude camp in Font Romeu in October.”

Strong teammates

After a summer spent in Tjörn, he can now focus on Ski Classics.

“Now I can start gearing up and really commit to something.”

One of his new teammates is Lauri Mannila, who won the Värnamorullen earlier this September.

“He has felt incredibly strong.”

An unusual summer

This summer has been different for Buskqvist, as he has trained a lot on his own at home in Tjörn instead of participating in training camps.

“It has been tough not having everything sorted out. Whenever I thought about it, it was a bit frustrating to not have it finalized. But at the same time, it has been a nice break, and I’ve had a lot of time at home.”

Aiming for the podium

Now Alfred Buskqvist is gearing up for a new season in new colors, aiming to take another step in his career.

“A big part of last season, I was in the mix for podium spots and was really close to the podium throughout the first half of the season, especially. It doesn’t feel like there was much separating me from that podium spot. So the goal is simply to secure podium finishes.”
