Toppidrettsveka starts today – Who will fight for the win at the long-distance race?

Toppidrettsveka starts today with the 54km mass start roller ski race in classic technique, and many of the top Ski Classics Pro Team athletes and the elite traditional cross-country skiers will be on the start line for the race. Check here the start lists.

Toppidrettsveka offers four intense competition days from August 16 to 19, with the first competition day, today, being the 54km long-distance roller ski race.

According to the Local Organizing Committee, “Toppidrettsveka is one of the largest and most important summer ski competitions in the world. The event has grown since the start-up in 2005 and has become a popular annual event for both spectators and athletes. Toppidrettsveka gathers the best athletes in the world, and the event is broadcast live on NRK. In recent years, small and large locations such as Aure, Hitra, Orkdal, Kristiansund, and Trondheim have been visited by the cross-country elite.”

A strong presence of Pro Team athletes and elite cross-country skiers is confirmed for this year’s edition. The full list can be found below, but the start list includes Ski Classics Season XIV Champion winners Emil Persson and Ida Dahl. 

Johannes Høsflot Klæbo, Herman Paus, Didrik Tønseth, Renaud Jay, Stian Hoelgaard, Emil Iversen, Ole Jørgen Bruvoll, Morten Eide Pedersen, Mika Vermeulen, Simen Hegstad Krüger, Kevin Bolger, Lucas Chanavat, Alfred Buskqvist, Johannes Ekløf, Francesco De Fabiani, Thomas Joly, Alvar Myhlback, Iivo Niskanen, Petter Northug, Max Novak, Federico Pellegrino, among others in the men’s field will be present at the race. 

On the women’s side, solid names will be on the start line, for example, Emilie Fleten, Ane Appelkvist Stenseth, Anne Kjersti Kalvå, Tiril Udnes Weng, Delphine Claudel, Ida Dahl, Maja Dahlqvist, Sofie Elebro, Johanna Hagström, Kati Roivas, Astrid Øyre Slind, and Rosie Brennan, among others. 

Toppidrettsveka – Hitra – 54km mass start classic technique 

On Thursday, August 17, it’s time for the 1.4km sprint in classic technique. On Friday, a 15/20 kilometers skiathlon race awaits the skiers, and on Saturday, a 12-km pursuit race in freestyle technique.
