Just weeks after retiring from professional competition, Thomas Joly is staying in the sport, this time from the other side of the race bib.

Team Nordic Expérience has announced that the French star will join the team as a coach, marking the beginning of a new chapter following his retirement at the end of the Ski Classics World Championship Season XVII.

The team shared the news on Instagram, expressing excitement about the appointment and hinting at projects ahead: “A new step for the team, with great projects on the horizon.”

Joly himself had left the door open for continued involvement in skiing when he announced his retirement in March. “I’m leaving competition, but the passion remains,” he wrote at the time.

The move sees Joly channel his experience in skiing, accumulated over years on the Ski Classics Pro Tour, into a coaching role. His final races as an athlete were Reistadløpet and the Grand Finale Summit 2 Senja at the close of Season XVII.
