Team Synnfjell continues its role as a Ski Classics development squad, with several of last season’s athletes having moved to other Pro Teams.

Based in the Synnfjell area near Lillehammer, Norway, the team has been part of Ski Classics since 2014, after starting up in 2006. Its mission has stayed consistent: to give talented, younger skiers a platform to develop and make their mark in long-distance skiing. The team has won the Pink Youth bib once in its history, with Tone Sundvor, during Season V (2014/2015).

That development pipeline was busy again this off-season. Agnes Öhrn departs for Bruse Sauerland Ski Team, Anna Żółtak moves to Danish Skimarathon Team, Espen Benjaminsen joins eD system RSJ Team, and Ask Jørgensen heads to Team GS8, four athletes who came through Synnfjell now racing for other Pro Teams this winter.

Karen Amalie Nordseth joins for Season XVIII, transferring in from Team Sjusjøen Langløp. She returns to a team she first raced for back in Season XV. Theodor Danielsson, Per Ingvar Tollehaug, Hanna Johansson, Oskar Fjellheim, Ragnhild Haukåen, and Viktor Nilsson all continue with the team.

Lactate, thresholds, acidosis: What skiers need to know about their bodies

After a race, elite athletes mention that they were so "acidified" that they had to slow down. What is happening in the body at that moment — and, more importantly, how can we prevent it?
