Team Ragde Charge and Alnæs shine at Romjulsrennet
Romjulsrennet delivered thrilling finishes and dominant performances on Tuesday at Sjusjøen, Norway, as both the men’s and women’s races highlighted the depth of talent in long-distance skiing ahead of the next Ski Classics Pro Tour events.
Photo-finish thriller in the men’s race
The men’s 23-kilometer classic race ended in a dramatic sprint showdown, with no fewer than nine skiers fighting for victory all the way to the finish line. Team Ragde Charge emerged as the dominant force, placing three athletes among the top four.
Mikael Gunnulfsen, Team Ragde Charge, claimed victory after a tight photo finish, narrowly edging out Fredrik Helgestad, Team Kaffebryggeriet. The two were given the same finishing time, with Gunnulfsen awarded first place after review.
Just one tenth of a second behind, Team Ragde Charge’s new signing Håvard Solås Taugbøl crossed the line in third, sharing the same time as teammate and team captain Andreas Nygaard, who finished fourth. A further four skiers arrived just one tenth behind them, underlining the exceptionally close battle at the front.
The result confirms the substantial impact of Team Ragde Charge’s new additions ahead of the season, with both Gunnulfsen and Taugbøl immediately delivering top-level performances.
Alnæs dominates women’s competition
In the women’s race, Anikken Gjerde Alnæs, Team Engcon, once again showed her class with a commanding victory. Fresh off her strong performances in Bad Gastein, the reigning Ski Classics overall winner controlled the race from start to finish.
Alnæs built a decisive gap early and also secured the intermediate sprint prize on her way to a convincing win. At the finish, she held a lead of nearly one and a half minutes over teammate Hanna Lodin, who finished second.
Julie Kvale Støstad, Team Ramudden, finished third on the podium after a solid race.
