This Pro Team hails from Norway and, more precisely, the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNUI). The team entered the Ski Classics circuit in 2018 and is one of the most unique teams, as both athletes and managers are students, and volunteers run everything.

Comprising a young and dedicated team of seven passionate athletes (three women and four men) from Norway, born between 1999 and 2003, Team NTNUI Sweco is a tight-knit family driven by the love of what they do.

Thomas Meinicke, the Pro Team Director, describes their approach: “We see ourselves as the most unique team in Ski Classics, as both skiers and managers are students, and everything is run on volunteering. For 113 years, we have run Norway’s largest ski club for young adults, and we have taken the experience with us into Team NTNUI Sweco,” says Meinicke and adds:

“We have the most fun, we are the smartest, and after our skiing career, we are left with a good education from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology.”

The Pro Team Director outlines their goals for Ski Classics Season XV: “Our goal for the men is to claim the top 50, and for the women to fight for top 20 positions. In addition, our strong girl Hanna Sandholt Hansen is again on the team, and we think she can fight for the Pink bib this season!”

Team NTNUI Sweco’s key strength is apparent: “I believe that our strength lies in the fact that we are young and fearless, as well as dedicated and loving what we do. We have a lot of commitment, and the many hours at school make us motivated for training!” says Thomas and elaborates:

“In addition, we are perhaps the team with the fewest resources and budget, which has taught us to think differently. It could be an advantage this season, more like the first season where everyone must go fluor-free!”
