Lager 157 Ski Team has finished a training camp in Gotland, Sweden, and there were hundreds of kilometers on roller skis.

“We want to build a good base for the summer,” says Pro Team Director Anton Järnberg about the training camp and the long kilometers on the road.

Last week, the Lager 157 Ski Team met before the previous weekend’s Skoklosterrullen, a roller ski race in Sweden. After the competition, the Pro Team athletes roller skied 60km to the main city, and the training camp continued in Gotland.

On the menu for the camp, there were lots of kilometers on roller skis and many hours in the training diaries. More specifically, 524 kilometers:

  • Friday: 35 kilometers.
  • Saturday: 115 kilometers.
  • Sunday: 60 kilometers.
  • Monday: 100 kilometers.
  • Tuesday: 82 kilometers.
  • Wednesday 132 kilometers – ‘Vasapass’

“The plan was to get a lot of training to build a good training base for the summer. And nice to be in Gotland on a camp; for most, it was the first time they were there on a training camp. And it has worked very well. We don’t have that many camps in a year, so we mustn’t ‘waste’ five days on something that is not good. And there we have succeeded. Very good roads, and it’s flat, which was another reason we chose to do a lot of volume,” says Pro Team Director Anton Järnberg to Langd.se.

Are the team where you want to be at this time of the year?

“Yes, it feels very good. We had absences from Torleif Syrstad, Runes Skaug Mathiesen, and Nils Dahlsten because of school and other appointments. However, now there are still so many of us on the team, and Kardin (Oskar) has come in just as expected and emphasizes that he is right for this. He has a good attitude, is very loyal and just like all the others does the job in training very well. It looks excellent,” concludes Järnberg.
