The award is decided after a vote by Pro Team Athletes and staff, as well as the Ski Classics crew. The title Event of the Season goes to Marcialonga, which received 21,1% of the votes.

Each Pro Tour event has its specialties and characteristics. Traditional and challenging races are appreciated by the athletes in the Pro Teams, which was reflected in the poll even after Season XV.

Marcialonga, the traditional Italian long-distance race is a 70km mass start race starting in Moena and ending in Cavalese. Being the first of the four Grand Classics, the Pro Tour event is one of the major monuments and most prestigious events to win.

The race was exciting in both the women’s and men’s classes. Emilie Fleten, Team Ramudden, and Runar Skaug Mathisen, Lager 157 Ski Team, showed enormous strength on the challenging course and mastery of their respective races.

The Italian race has been voted number one after Seasons VIII, IX, and now at Season XV. Tied second in the poll was 3 Zinnen Ski Marathon and Birkebeinerrennet, with 18.9% of the votes.

“Our warmest congratulations to Marcialonga on winning the Best Event title in Ski Classics for the third time. The event has shown to have a very special attraction and delivers a unique experience for all participants, elite as well as recreational skiers and spectators!” says David Nilsson, Director of Ski Classics.

Angelo Corradini, President of Marcialonga, shares his thoughts about the award:

“I expected this victory because, with an edition as splendid as this year’s, we deserved the award. I want to dedicate the victory of this title to our territory: to the entire community of the Fiemme and Fassa Valleys. Thanks to the hospitality of the hotels, the transport, the courtesy of our people, and many other fundamental details like these, Marcialonga has become what it is. This success is the result of constant commitment in the organization and management of the event, which for more than fifty years has gone beyond the sporting aspect,” says Corradini and adds:

“Marcialonga involves the entire territory not only in terms of sport but also in terms of tradition, culture, tourism, and hospitality. This award shows how much all these aspects are recognized and appreciated abroad. This payoff rewards the work done throughout the year to arrive ready for the last Sunday in January; equally important, it gives us even more strength to pursue our future projects.”
