Marcia Gran Paradiso, the Ski Classics Challengers event in Cogne, Aosta Valley, Italy, is a 40-kilometer-long race in classic technique and takes place next Sunday, February 5, 2023.

Since 1975, thanks to the insight of 10 locals who gave the opportunity to recreational and professional skiers to enjoy the incredible ski tracks of Aosta Valley. The race starts at the famous Sant’Orso meadows near the village. It goes through stunning landscapes, from sweeping views of the valley and mountains to the narrow passages through the woodland at the bottom of Grand Paradiso Massif, which gives its name to the oldest Italian National Park.

Marcia Gran Paradiso takes place over two days and offers two competitions: the Classic, of 40km, part of the Ski Classics Challengers circuit, and a shorter version with a course of 25km. A race dedicated to young skiers is also offered, the so-called Minimarcia.

Cogne offers an extensive network of trails to walk on every season in the heart of the Gran Paradiso National Park, also known for ice climbing, thanks to its more than 150 icefalls.

With 80km of cross-country skiing trails, Cogne is one of Aosta Valley’s most famous Nordic skiing resorts. According to the Local Organizing Committee, “we hope this partnership with Ski Classics Challengers can be a good chance to promote and develop Marcia Gran Paradiso and make our valley known to new ski enthusiasts.”
