Ski Classics World Championship Season XVIII continues on Sunday, February 14, 2027, with Jizerská50, a 50km classic race in Bedřichov, Czech Republic, and the second Grand Classics event of the season.

As one of the four Grand Classics, Jizerská50 holds monument status in Ski Classics, placing it alongside Marcialonga, Vasaloppet, and Birkebeinerrennet. Held in the Jizera Mountains since 1968, the race blends Central European character with the wilderness and racing style of Scandinavia. The 50km course crosses rolling ridges, open plateaus, and deep forests, and for many athletes, it remains one of the most beautiful and emotional events of the winter.

The 2027 edition marks the race’s 60th. Jizerská50 is also deeply tied to regional history, commemorating the 15 Czech mountaineers who took part in the 1970 race before losing their lives in the Peru Huascarán avalanche.

“What makes Jizerská50 truly unique is its setting, stretching through deep mountain forests, rolling hills, and narrow, winding trails that you simply won’t find anywhere else in the world. It’s an undeniably demanding yet breathtaking course, and a bucket-list experience that every cross-country skier should conquer at least once in their life,” says Michal Bystrianský, Chief of Competition, Jizerská50.

“Jizerská50 carries 500 points, more than our regular events, and that’s exactly what makes it a Grand Classic. After Marcialonga, this is the second step toward the Grand Slam, and no one has ever completed all four in the same season. That alone tells you how demanding this event is. With two climbs along the way, Na Knejpě and Smědava, there’s nowhere on this course to hide if your legs aren’t right,” says Lukas Bauer, Ski Classics Race Director.
