The Ski Classics ends Season XVII with a back-to-back Pro Tour event weekend with Reistadløpet on Saturday, March 28, and the Grand Finale Summit 2 Senja on Sunday, March 29, 2026. Here is all the information you need to know before the final weekend.

Reistadløpet

The final Ski Classics Pro Tour weekend of Season XVII starts on Saturday, March 28, 2026, with Reistadløpet, the season’s 12th event and one of the circuit’s most demanding courses.

Starting in 2026, there will be a single standard distance of 35km, marking a return to the original course, where both recreational and elite skiers cover the same distance and share the same challenge.

The 35km course between Setermoen and Bardufoss features the Premium Sprint at Storlømyra after 5km and then climbs steeply to the notorious Iconic Climb Orta, taking athletes from the valley floor into exposed highlands before long, technical descents toward the finish.

The Premium Sprint, featured in both Reistadløpet and Grand Finale Summit 2 Senja, follows the same points system as other Ski Classics sprints, awarding points to the seven fastest men and women (30, 23, 16, 12, 9, 6, and 4). These points also count toward the Pro Team Competition, giving teams an opportunity to gain extra points during the race.

As one of the toughest races on the circuit, Reistadløpet has historically played a defining role in both the men’s and women’s standings and continues to be a proving ground for athletes with exceptional climbing strength.

Grand Finale Summit 2 Senja

The Ski Classics Grand Finale Summit 2 Senja is the 13th and final event of the Pro Tour Season XVII, where the Pro Team athletes and their Pro Teams will gather to celebrate the end of the season.

This winter, the event will be held as planned on Sunday, March 29, 2026, but on an updated course with both the start and finish in Bardufoss.

The updated course will be a single 60km loop, preserving many of the event’s key competitive elements. The Premium Sprint checkpoint will be at Austtjønnmyra after 11km, as in the ordinary plan, while the Climb checkpoint is moved to Berrskallen after 33km. The Climb will, however, be downgraded from an Iconic Climb to a standard one, affecting the points awarded.

Berrskallen is renowned for its beautiful setting, offering spectacular views over the Solbergfjord, as well as over Senja and Finnsnes.

History and the Region

Reistadløpet has a long history dating back to 1958. The event celebrates a local ski legend, Colonel Ole Reistad, a Norwegian pentathlon champion in 1922 and the ski patrol leader who won Olympic gold in St. Moritz in 1928.

Setermoen has one of the oldest army camps in Norway. Military education was established there in 1898 because of its strategic location in the middle of the mountains. The Norwegian Armed Forces have shaped the community through their presence in many ways, and hundreds of soldiers and officers are stationed there, making it the largest garrison in Norway.

Bardufoss has a civilian and military airport located about 82km north of Narvik and about 70km south of Tromsø, the largest city in northern Norway. Bardufoss is small, but it has its appeal and peculiarities, and the majestic nature around this place certainly takes your breath away.

Iconic Climbs

The Iconic Climbs give an extra spark to the most challenging climbs in Ski Classics. For Season XVII, there would be four Iconic Climbs. This weekend, it’s time for the third Iconic Climbs of Season XVII, the Orta Climb in Reistadløpet. With the change in the Grand Finale Summit 2 Senja course, the Magdaskaret Climb is no longer on the list.  

The Iconic Climb points are 50% higher than regular Climb points. Winners get 45 instead of 30 points when being first to cross an Iconic Climb checkpoint. 

Ski Classics Live Sessions

On Wednesday, March 25, the Live Sessions with Pro Team athletes ahead of Reistadløpet and Grand Finale Summit 2 Senja will be broadcast live on the streaming platform SC Play from 15:00 CET.

Ski Classics Live Sessions is a live-streamed press conference format where journalists, fans, sponsors, and community members can meet top athletes and key figures before every Pro Tour weekend. The stream is available live and on demand to the entire Ski Classics community.
