Tiril Eckhoff is single after 13 years, she tells TV2. The biathlete had been in a relationship with cross-country skier Ånund Lid Byggland since 2011, and the couple was engaged.

“We have, after 13 wonderful years together, chosen to go our separate ways. Together we have experienced both highs and lows, and many fantastic moments for which I am very grateful,” Tiril Eckhoff told TV2, the channel she has worked for in recent years.

She and Ånund Lid Byggland have been a couple since 2011. Lid Byggland, from Høydalsmo in Telemark, is a former national team-level skier and now a coach. Tiril Eckhoff has been one of Norway’s absolute best biathletes, and she has also worked as a TV expert after retiring.

“Even though our paths now part, we still have care and respect for each other. No drama, but sometimes life doesn’t quite turn out the way you first expect,” Eckhoff told TV2.
