The World Champion becomes CEO
She has won the World Championship gold in the relay 6 times. And she is known as an NRK expert on biathlon. But now Synnøve Solemdal, 36, is becoming a CEO!
The World Champion and former biathlon star has been appointed as the new CEO for DNT Sunnmøre. This is announced by the association itself on their website.
Synnøve Solemdal takes over the job from Linda Flem, who is stepping down after 18 years in the role. Her solid experience of 11 years on the Norwegian national biathlon team obviously played a role in her getting the job.
Additionally, Synnøve holds a master’s degree in civil engineering from NTNU. She also has further education in economics and management, plus experience from her job at NRK.
In her role as DNT CEO in Sunnmøre, she will continue the association’s positive development, which includes following up with volunteers, membership growth, financial management, and collaboration with external partners. Synnøve will also be the association’s public face and an important driving force in strengthening its role as a social actor for outdoor life.
Synnøve Solemdal assumes her new position on July 7.
The 36-year-old from Tingvoll has two World Cup victories in biathlon. Both are from Hochfilzen in Austria, where she won the pursuit race in the 2012/13 and 2013/14 seasons. She has a total of 5 World Cup podium finishes, and before that, she won two bronze medals at the Junior World Championships.
She is perhaps best known for her relay efforts. She won four World Championship golds in the “regular” relay as well as two in mixed relay. Synnøve Solemdal participated in 7 World Championships and 2 Olympic Games.
