Only a few weeks remain until the biathlon season begins. The Swedish national team is now at its first snow camp, making final preparations ahead of winter.

The Swedish A team is in Idre Fjäll for the season’s first snow camp. In recent years, this location has served as the traditional start of the national biathlon team’s season.

“As always, Idre Fjäll delivers great conditions for early snow, and it is valuable that we can gather all our national teams here for the start of the season,” says head coach Johannes Lukas in a press release.

At Idre Fjäll, the athletes are making their final preparations ahead of the season kicking off. The Biathlon World Cup starts on November 29 in Östersund. But already on November 15–16, it’s time for the Swedish Biathlon Premiere.

According to Lukas, the autumn training leading up to the competition season has gone well.

“We have had a good autumn, even though we have had to adjust the schedule a bit for some skiers. Overall, the team is in good shape, and we are looking forward to taking the step out onto the ski slopes again. It is always exciting to see the skiers on snow for the first time in the season and start weaving the competition elements into training,” says head coach Johannes Lukas.

However, one athlete is missing at the start of the camp. Linn Gestblom will instead join during the second week of training. She told SVT that shoulder pain is keeping her from participating right now.

“I’m rehabbing my shoulder a bit. I had some pain earlier when we had our test races, so I’m training and rehabbing at home, and we’ll see which day I can join in Idre,” she says.

It’s not the left shoulder that caused her to miss the entire previous season.

“No, it’s the other shoulder that’s bothering me this time. The shoulder that was operated on is really good,” she told SVT.
