Italy splits squads for final Biathlon World Cup preparations
With less than a month remaining until the Biathlon World Cup opener in Östersund, Sweden, the Italian team is heading north for its final training phase — divided between Norway and Sweden.
From November 4 to 17, Dorothea Wierer will train in Geilo, Norway, together with Tommaso Giacomel, Didier Bionaz, Patrick Braunhofer, Elia Zeni, and Daniele Cappellari. The group, coached by Andrea Zattoni and Fabio Cianciana, will conclude their camp by competing in the Norwegian season opener on November 15–16.
Meanwhile, Lukas Hofer and Lisa Vittozzi will continue their build-up in Idre Fjäll, Sweden, under the guidance of coaches Alex Inderst and Edoardo Mezzaro. The duo will also line up for the Swedish season-opening races on the same weekend, according to a press release from the Italian Winter Sports Federation (FISI) and Italian media.
Two different training paths, one shared objective — fine-tuning shape and shooting precision ahead of the World Cup, which begins on November 29 in Östersund, Sweden.
