Heidi Weng was just 16 seconds shy of victory at the ’10 for Grete’ during last year’s Oslo Marathon. Now she is making another attempt to beat the time of 32:35 minutes. The question is whether several of the top Ski Classics competitors have a chance against Heidi.

Nearly 27,000 runners are set to take to the streets of Oslo this Saturday. The Oslo Marathon is sold out across all distances, and among the names on the start list are several notable skiers, most of whom will compete in the 10km event.

Heidi Weng was only beaten by Kristin Dommersnes, who set a new record last year. It was an impressive performance from the Olympic relay champion last winter, making Heidi one of the favorites in the women’s race this year as well.

Several top names from Ski Classics are also on the list, but they will have to fight hard against Heidi Weng. Will she outpace Kasper Stadaas? Or Petter Stakston? Or Gaute Kvåle?

Fossesholm also challenges

Heidi may also face competition from her former national team colleague Helene Marie Fossesholm, who is also registered. She has been focusing primarily on Hyrox recently.
Other ski names in the “10 for Grete” include Stian Hoelgaard, Erik Lippestad Thorstensen, Jostein Tandberg, Sjur Obrestad Gabrielsen, Mårten Soleng Skinstad, and Gjermund Løfald, to name a few.

Additionally, the new member of the cross-country skiing committee, Barbro Kvåle Trømberg, will compete in the same distance. Among the thousands of runners, we also find former biathlete Bente Landheim and the junior world champion in orienteering from 2007, Siri Ulvestad.

Golberg competes in half marathon

World Champion in the 50km from Planica 2023, Pål Golberg, impressed at the marathon in 2025, finishing fifth with a time of 2:28:12. Now he is settling for the half distance, but Pål will surely be among the front runners.

Also registered for the half marathon is Anders Aukland, along with former junior world champion in cross-country skiing, Martine Ek Hagen. Additionally, Orienteering World Championship runner Victoria Hæstad Bjørnstad is an interesting name, as well as other ski athletes like Melina Meyer Magulas, Anders Hallingstad, Ole Jørgen Knoph, Kjersti Dengerud, Harald Astrup Arnesen, Eirik Olsvik Dengerud, Halvor Korbøl Thoner, and former national team skier Tina Bay from Korlevoll in Odda.

Former national champion in biathlon

A couple of former top names in biathlon are also attempting the 21 kilometers through Oslo, out to Skøyen and back to Akershus Fortress and the city hall. Jori Mørkve and the national champion from 2019, Eline Grue, are participating. TV personality and long-distance runner Grunde Myhrer is also on the list for the half marathon.

In the marathon distance, we find former skier and cyclist Thomas Ekren, as well as well-known long-distance runner Joar Thele. The marathon starts first at 09:00 CEST, followed by the half marathon, and in the afternoon, the “10 for Grete” event.
