Both former Czech biathletes shared a close bond. Gabriela Soukalová witnessed the wedding of her longtime friend.

Gabriela Soukalová and Jitka Landová, both former successful biathletes, share a rich history. They went through school years side by side, shared a room during competitions and training camps, and achieved numerous successes together, including an Olympic medal from Sochi and a small crystal globe in the relay.

The romantic ceremony took place after a decade-long relationship at Jelení Chaty Skladanka in the Jizera Mountains. The wedding was an intimate affair, attended only by the newlyweds, witnesses, and close family. Gabriela Soukalová, who is currently expecting her second child, made sure to be part of her friend’s significant day—hence the bride humorously referred to her as the “2-in-1 witness.”

“No need for unnecessary words, not a dry eye in the house,” shared the thirty-five-year-old bride, now known as Jitka Nováková Landová, on social media. The former successful biathlete and Universiade champion had to end her sports career at the age of twenty-six due to health issues. She later worked as a teacher and is currently caring for her one-year-old son, Jakub.

Many familiar faces congratulated the newlyweds on social media. Among them was fellow relay team member Eva Puskarčíková, who is also expecting her second child, and former world champion Markéta Davidová, who is currently recovering from her second disc surgery.
