Olympic star seriously injured in cycling crash.

Shortly after the season ended, Emilien Jacquelin shocked fans by announcing his commitment to a career in cycling. The French Olympic star has signed a professional contract with team Decathlon CMA CGM.

Sudden halt: season may be over

The ambition was to pursue his cycling dream, and Jacquelin was ready to go in May. However, just weeks after transitioning to cycling, he crashed. The 30-year-old suffered a broken collarbone, one of the most common injuries among cyclists. Unfortunately for Jacquelin, this injury comes at a critical time.

Now, the entire project hangs by a thread. Initially, his cycling dream may be at risk. Furthermore, his return to biathlon for the winter season could also be jeopardized.

The national team management has issued Jacquelin a clear ultimatum. If the biathlon star wishes to compete this winter, he must begin regular season training by the end of August.

Thus, the collarbone fracture may have jeopardized everything for the man who won Olympic gold and bronze in Italy this winter. Now, both his cycling career and the entire biathlon season depend on X-rays and prognosis.

Part of a comprehensive development project

Jacquelin explains that his contract with the cycling team is part of a carefully crafted plan, with the 2030 Olympics at home as the main goal.

“This project has been maturing in my mind for a while. I have the 2030 Olympics as an overarching goal, but I also want to experience something different and try my hand at high-level cycling,” says Jacquelin.

For the biathlete, who initially has a six-month contract with the team, it’s about absorbing everything he can.

“The point is not to do it just for fun. The goal is to challenge myself, broaden my horizons, and really step out of my comfort zone,” Jacquelin continues.

“I am convinced that the training methods, focus on diet and nutrition, and the professionalism of the team will help elevate me as an athlete.”
