The Czech biathlete was sidelined by back pain during the Olympic season and had to undergo a second surgery on her intervertebral disc after the season.

Markéta Davidová lost part of her Olympic season due to a recurring herniated disc and had to undergo a second surgical procedure. The operation took place at Motol University Hospital, and the Czech biathlete is now facing six weeks of rest.

Markéta stated on the Czech Biathlon website: “I consulted the examination results with several doctors, and they all agreed that surgery was necessary. During the procedure, they replaced the herniated disc with an implant and reinforced the vertebrae using screws. Now I have six weeks of rest ahead of me to ensure the vertebrae heal properly. After that, I hope to start rehabilitating slowly.”

The biathlon star posted a photo on her Instagram where she is leaning on crutches, smiling, and hoping for better days ahead. Let’s keep our fingers crossed for her!
