The Swedish biathlon star has become a father for the first time.

“Life 2.0,” the Swedish biathlon star writes on his Instagram account.

Jesper Nelin had a tough end to the season. In the mass start at the World Cup final in Holmenkollen, the 33-year-old finished second to last. But since then, things have taken a positive turn.

Over the weekend, Nelin announced that he and his partner, Sandra Abremark, have become parents for the first time.

During the World Cup final in Holmenkollen on March 22, Nelin said he was looking forward to their family growing. Now the baby has arrived – a boy.

Thought everything was lost

Nelin and Abremark got engaged in the summer of 2025 and plan to get married “when we have time – maybe in a couple of years.”

But shortly before he was going to propose, he thought everything was lost. Nelin had planned to propose during a holiday trip he had booked for them to Gotland. However, he became so ill that he feared the plan would fall apart.

“I had a high fever and felt really bad. I couldn’t do anything at all. It was catastrophic timing for someone planning to propose,” Nelin told Aftonbladet.

“I panicked a bit and thought I would ruin everything. But on the last day, I felt well enough for us to play a bit of golf in the evening, and afterward we went to the sea and parked with the rooftop tent at sunset. That’s when I proposed,” he said.

More than ten years at the top level

Jesper Nelin made his World Cup debut in 2015. Since then, he has competed in 278 World Cup races, reached the podium 23 times, and won two.

The Swedish biathlete has two Olympic medals: gold in the relay at the 2018 Olympics in PyeongChang and bronze in the relay at the 2026 Olympics in Milano-Cortina. He also has three World Championships medals, including a relay gold in Lenzerheide 2025.
