Thomas Joly: “The end of an important chapter”
Ski Classics Pro Team athlete Thomas Joly has announced that he will retire from professional skiing following the final Pro Tour events of Season XVII.
The French skier shared the news on social media ahead of the final weekend of the Ski Classics season, confirming that the upcoming races will mark the end of an important chapter in his career.
“This weekend will mark my last competition. The end of an important chapter in my life,” Joly wrote on his Instagram.
Reflecting on his journey in the sport, Joly emphasized both the challenges and achievements along the way.
“I’m letting go of some dreams, but the little boy who discovered skiing has accomplished far more than he could ever have imagined,” he added.
Throughout his career, Joly has been a consistent presence on the Ski Classics Pro Tour, representing his teams and contributing to the development of long-distance skiing.
In his message, he also expressed gratitude to those who supported him and his career.
“I want to thank everyone who has been part of this incredible adventure: my teams, coaches, sponsors, partners, equipment suppliers, teammates, friends, and of course, my family.”
Beyond results, Joly highlighted the human side of the sport as the most meaningful aspect of his career.
“Beyond the results, it’s the powerful human connections and unforgettable memories that I’ll cherish most.”
While stepping away from competition, Joly made it clear that his connection to skiing remains strong.
“I’m leaving competition, but the passion remains.”
Thomas Joly is expected to make his final appearances in Ski Classics at Reistadløpet and the Grand Finale Summit 2 Senja, bringing his professional career to a close at the end of Season XVII.
