The cross-country skiing World Cup moves to Lake Placid, USA, for the final stage of the 2025/2026 season this weekend, and the German national team has been announced.

The United States will host the final cross-country skiing World Cup races from Friday, March 20, to Sunday, March 22, 2026. The program opens on Friday with a 10km interval start in classic technique, followed by a freestyle sprint on Saturday. The weekend concludes on Sunday with a 20km mass start in freestyle technique.

In a press release, the German Ski Association (Deutscher Skiverband) confirmed the national team selection for Lake Placid.

“After a long season, everyone is still looking forward to the final races in Lake Placid. An overseas World Cup is always a bit of an adventure when you fly across the pond again. We’re all excited to see what awaits us there. The courses are considered very beautiful cross-country ski trails, and I think the races there could be a real highlight to end the season,” says the cross-country skiing coach Michael Bonfert, and adds:

“Overall, we’re all highly motivated going into the last three World Cup races of the season and are looking forward to this adventure. There will certainly be a touch of melancholy when we fly home afterwards, as it will also be the last World Cup for our coaches, Per Nilsson and Marc Steur. They’ve accompanied many of us for several years, and we’re very grateful for that. All the more reason to enjoy our time together and hopefully finish with some great results.”
