After a fast race from the start and a morning full of action, the 30-kilometer Ski Classics Challengers event in Sweden saw Johanna Hagström, Ulricehamns SK, win Tjejvasan with an outstanding performance and a tight sprint finish.

Tjejvasan

Tjejvasan, the World’s largest long-distance race for women, took place today in Sweden, starting in Oxberg and finishing in Mora.

Soon after a fast start, a group of 14 skiers was formed.

At Hökberg, 11km into the race, eight skiers crossed first within 11.3 seconds: Moa Lundgren, Julie Kvale Støstad, Karolina Hedenström, Johanna Hagström, Jenny Larsson, Anja Stolpe, Ida Palmberg, and Ida Dahl.

At the Eldris checkpoint, with 9km to go, the leading group was working powerfully in front, with a group of eight skiers, and three chasers already 49 seconds behind the leaders.

In the last kilometers, the pace picked up, and only six skiers were at the front, fighting for the win.

At the end of today’s Tjejvasan, after a fierce battle in the leading group and a solid sprint, the winner was Johanna Hagström, Ulricehamns SK, with a total time of 1:26:11.0.

Julie Kvale Støstad, Team Ramudden, finished in second place in a tight finish, 0.1 seconds behind the winner, followed by Jenny Larsson, Lager 157 Ski Team, 2.6 seconds back, and completing the podium in the third position.
