German national team for the Oberhof World Cup
The cross-country skiing World Cup season 2025/2026 moves to Oberhof this weekend, and the German national team has been announced.
Oberhof, Germany, will host another World Cup stage this weekend, from Saturday, January 17, to Sunday, January 18, 2026. The program opens on Saturday with a Sprint in freestyle technique. The weekend concludes on Sunday with a 10km interval-start race in classic technique.

In a press release, the German Ski Association confirmed the national team selection for Oberhof.
“The home World Cup in Oberhof is a highlight we’re really looking forward to. At the same time, it’s the last chance for many athletes to secure an Olympic spot,” says the cross-country skiing sports director Peter Schlikenrieder, and adds:
“We’ve filled almost all of our starting places in the women’s events: eight athletes in the sprint and eleven in the distance race – the maximum possible quota.
For the men, we’ll be starting with nine athletes in the distance race and seven in the sprint. This presents another major organizational challenge, but also a situation we’re looking forward to. The home World Cup in Oberhof is an important dress rehearsal for us, and we’re confident that we can secure one or two more Olympic tickets here, especially in the men’s events, where Jan Stölben and Florian Notz have already met the qualifying standard.
We’re excited for this home World Cup and are going into the competitions with a large, motivated team, ready to fight for the best possible results in front of our home crowd.”
