The biathlon World Cup and IBU Cup season 2025/2026 start this week. The Czech national teams – World Cup and IBU Cup – are now named for the first weeks of the new winter season.

Östersund, Sweden, from November 29 to December 7, and Obertilliach, Austria, from December 4 to 7, are the places for this year’s biathlon World Cup and IBU Cup premieres, respectively.

In a press release, the Czech Biathlon Association has named their biathlon teams for the first events of the Biathlon World Cup (Östersund and Hochfilzen) and IBU Cup (Obertilliach and Ridnaun).

According to the Czech Biathlon Association, “Markéta Davidová is part of the Czech squad for the opening two World Cup events in Östersund and Hochfilzen. The final five men and women were selected by coaches after the nomination races in Vuokatti, Finland.”

Based on the results of last season, Tereza Voborníková, Markéta Davidová, Jessica Jislová, Lucie Charvátová, Vítězslav Hornig, Michal Krčmář, and Jonáš Mareček were certain of their nomination. They also confirmed their positions in Vuokatti.

“The women’s sprint and mass start were won by Markéta Davidová ahead of Lucie Charvátová. Among the men, Vítězslav Hornig was the most successful. He won the sprint and lost to Michal Krčmář in the mass start at the finish line.”

Nomination race results

“Jakub Štvrtecký, Mikuláš Karlík, and Tereza Vinklárková won the World Cup in the nomination races. Heda Mikolášová had a slightly higher point total, but she, along with another junior, Ilona Plecháčová, will start the season as planned in the IBU Cup, where she can make more starts.”

“The nomination competitions culminated in a two-week training camp in Finland, where five national teams gathered. “From my point of view, it was a very successful training camp. All the teams trained in one place, and it was especially motivating for the young athletes. The nomination competitions were of a high standard, and I am glad that athletes from different teams made it in. We saw that each team was working hard,” says sports director Ondřej Rybář.
