The Norwegian cross-country season officially opened today in Beitostølen with the sprint classic qualification for women and men. Check out the results.

As one of the first major events of the winter, the Beitostølen opener traditionally provides an early benchmark for form, and this year’s sprint day once again delivered tight margins and high intensity.

In the women’s sprint qualification, the fastest time was set over the 1.3-kilometer classic course with a narrow spread inside the top ranks. The top 30 athletes progressed to the afternoon heats, which begin at 12:05 CET.

  2. Kristine Stavås Skistad (NOR), +1.8
  3. Mathilde Skjaerdalen Myhrvold (NOR), +2.5

The men’s qualification also featured a strong field, with the top skiers separated by just fractions of a second. As in the women’s race, the fastest 30 competitors advanced to the sprint heats.

Beitostølen Premiere – Event Facts

Beitostølen is once again hosting one of the earliest and most traditional race weekends on the Norwegian calendar. The three-day program features sprint racing today, followed by interval start distance races in classic and freestyle techniques.
