Tiziano Romito becomes the new president of Marcialonga
After 12 years, Angelo Corradini steps down, leaving the iconic Italian event, Marcialonga, in excellent shape.
Marcialonga, one of the world’s most beloved ski marathons and a cornerstone of the Ski Classics Pro Tour, is entering a new era. After twelve years at the helm, Angelo Corradini is stepping down as president and handing over leadership to Tiziano Romito — a long-time consultant and familiar face within the organization.
Romito, 65, was born on February 7 — the exact date that marks several historic milestones in Italian cross-country skiing, including the first edition of Marcialonga in 1971 and Franco Nones’ Olympic gold in 1968—a symbolic connection for the event’s fifth president.
A chartered accountant and former alpine skier, Romito has collaborated with Marcialonga since 1987 and played key roles in the Val di Fiemme World Championships in 1991 and 2003. Known for his analytical mindset and passion for sports, he aims to build on the event’s strong foundations while promoting teamwork and sustainability.
“Marcialonga is a well-established organization,” Romito said after his election.
“I accepted because I recognize this as an important moment — a transition from Angelo’s remarkable leadership to a new shared management model. Marcialonga cannot depend on one person alone. My goal is to create a collaborative management team where the entire board.”
Romito also stressed that Marcialonga will stay true to its environmental commitment:
“With Marcialonga, we’re talking about natural sports. Our future excludes any discipline with a negative environmental impact. Sustainability will guide our path, possibly through new green initiatives proposed by the board. I have an open vision in this direction.”
Under Corradini’s leadership, Marcialonga has grown into a model event — recognized several times as the best Ski Classics Pro Tour event and admired for its flawless organization and charm. The new president inherits an event that’s both stable and ambitious, ready to continue its role as a reference point for long-distance skiing.
The new board includes vice presidents Giuseppe Ferrandi and Diego Salvador, and members Giancarlo Ramus, Marino Sbetta, Enzo Macor, Paolo Dellantonio, Anna Facchini, and Giorgio Mazzel.
As for Romito himself, he promises to remain close to the snow:
“I’ve already taken part in the Marcialonga Story, and I can ski cross-country. Now that my son Andrea has joined my firm, I have more free time. You might see me on skis more often!”
