Petter Northug is ready for the World Cup
Petter Northug is one of several Norwegian stars set to compete in the Alliansloppet this weekend, which has this year been granted Roller Ski World Cup status.
Northug is ready for Alliansloppet in Trollhättan this coming weekend. But the 39-year-old will face tough competition. From Sweden, among others, come Northug’s old rival Calle Halfvarsson, as well as World Cup stars Marcus Grate and Edvin Anger, and junior phenomenon Alvar Myhlback.

On the women’s side, Astrid Øyre Slind and Anne Kjersti Kalvå are among the Norwegian stars entered. They will face, among others, Sweden’s Johanna Hagström and Emma Ribom, Junior World Champion Gina del Rio, and several Swedish and international elite skiers.
From the long-distance elite, Myhlback’s teammate Emil Persson will start, along with Max Novak, who has just moved to Norway in pursuit of the overall Ski Classics title.

On the women’s side, last season’s overall winner Anniken Gjerde Alnæs will be there.
Trollhättan Roller Ski World Cup
Trollhättan will also host the second stop of the 2025 FIS Roller Ski World Cup, taking place from August 29 to 31. Over three days, senior and junior national athletes will compete across various race formats.
The event starts on Friday, August 29, with a 1.3km sprint in freestyle technique for all athletes, followed by a 48km mass start race in classic technique for senior athletes and 32km for junior roller skiers on Saturday, August 30, and ends with the 15km interval start in classic technique for both senior women and men and 7.5km for junior women and junior men athletes, on Sunday, August 31, 2025.
