Calle Halfvarsson has married Isabell Olsson, who now goes by Halfvarsson. The wedding was held on a small scale with only close family present.

Calle Halfvarsson has tied the knot with Isabell Olsson, now Halfvarsson. Present at the ceremony were their closest relatives.

“It was quite a small wedding, nothing extravagant. Basically, only family members were there. We didn’t marry in secret, but we wanted it to be small and intimate,” he told Aftonbladet.

“Nervous out of nowhere”

Once in the church, the Swedish cross-country ski star suddenly felt nervous.

“If we had stood in front of 150 people, that would have been worse, but that didn’t feel like us. So, the wedding was held in front of 35 people. But when I was standing in the church, I suddenly felt nervous. I noticed Isabell’s hands were trembling a little.”

There was no big party. Afterward, the celebration took place on the terrace overlooking Lake Gopen.

“In the evening, the older folks went to bed, so it was just the younger ones left. There were ten of us sitting in the lounge area with outdoor heaters.”

“Extra warm in my heart…”

The couple has two children together, and Halfvarsson feels like he’s found his home.

“She’s funny. Jokes a lot and can tell crude jokes, so I often feel like she’s absolutely the right girl for me. But what warms my heart the most is seeing her with the kids. She’s a wonderful mother.”

Calle Halfvarsson kept his name, while Isabell changed hers from Olsson to Halfvarsson.

“I haven’t thought much about it. She’s better at handling those things, and I just go with the flow. Maybe it’s selfish, but she’s always said she wanted to have the same name as me, so we gave the kids the surname Halfvarsson. And now she has it too.”
