In recent days, the Swedish national team began its first camp for the dryland season in Riksgränsen, where skiing is on the schedule. At the time of writing, there are 80 centimeters of snow on site. But several of the stars are missing.

Karlsson following the plan

Since winning gold at the World Championships in Trondheim, Frida Karlsson has struggled with a foot injury. It continues to prevent her from skiing — she’s not ready for a week on snow.

“If there’s any uncertainty about being able to handle it, it’s better to stay home,” women’s coach Stefan Thomson told Expressen.

Karlsson is slightly behind the original plan.

“Yes, perhaps a little behind. There’s this uncertainty about whether she can really handle a full week on snow. It’s a bit borderline right now.”

Two more absent

Linn Svahn and Moa Ilar are also missing. Svahn is still not fully recovered from the concussion and neck injury she sustained and is training on her own.

“But now she’s cycling and it’s going well along with other rehab training,” says Thomson.

It was already decided earlier that Moa Ilar would not participate in the camp following the foot surgery she underwent during the spring. She is still not back to full training.
