As the roller skiing season is ending, Team Eksjöhus reflects on their rigorous training and competitive endeavors throughout August. With a focus on pushing their limits, the Pro Team has shown exceptional dedication and determination, leaving sports manager Marthe Kristoffersen thoroughly impressed.

“I’m impressed by everyone in the group. They push limits, both in terms of the amount of training and how they carry it out,” says Team Eksjöhus sports director Marthe Kristoffersen in a press release. 

With less than three months remaining until the first Ski Classics Pro Tour event, Team Eksjöhus has focused on building a solid base for what promises to be a successful Ski Classics Season XV. Their journey began in Eksjö, where team members met, established goals, set training standards, and engaged with partners and sponsors. Subsequently, they participated in two competition weekends, one in Norway and another in Sweden.

The Blink Festival in Norway featured two challenging races for the Pro Team: a demanding climb and a distance race. Team Eksjöhus achieved remarkable success, securing a total of eight top-10 placements. Notable highlights included Eirik Sverdrup Augdal’s second-place finish in the climb and Magni Smedås’ fourth-place finish in the distance race.

Kristoffersen shared her thoughts on the event, stating:

“It was a fun weekend and a good test before the extensive autumn training begins. We finished second in the team competition, indicating that we have done a good job but also have something we can chase after in the autumn.”

In Trollhättan, Sweden, a three-day competition unfolded, featuring sprint races, a grueling distance race, and a challenging 15-kilometer individual start. Young talent Anton Grahn consistently impressed by claiming the title of the best Team Eksjöhus rider in all three races. The team’s female athletes also delivered excellent performances.

Despite the adverse weather conditions in Trollhättan, Team Eksjöhus found the week enjoyable and productive. Kristoffersen noted:

“There was a lot of rain in Trollhättan, but it was still a great week. We encountered a few broken poles, but many athletes performed at their best levels.”

The team’s next gathering will be in Lillehammer on September 15, where they will face rigorous testing on the Mosetertoppen. At the end of October, the skiers will finally transition to training on snow, eagerly anticipating the shift from dryland preparation to on-snow performance.

“It’s always the most fun on snow, but we’re also looking forward to lots of good training that will produce results this winter!”

Team Eksjöhus is excited about the upcoming Ski Classics season, which starts on December 9-10 in Bad Gastein, Austria. The subsequent weekend will also feature double competitions in La Venosta, Italy.
