Wsportsmedia has previously acquired the cross-country skiing sites Längd.se in Sweden and Kestävyysurheilu.fi in Finland. Now Wsportsmedia has also acquired Norway’s leading site, Langrenn.com. The new Nordic editorial platform with the three sites has more than three million unique readers and more than 20 million page views per year.

“The acquisition of langrenn.com is a natural step in our ambition to build sports surveillance across the value chain of sport business. The new Nordic editorial platform will closely follow all parts of cross-country skiing, from sprint to long distance, as well as biathlon, says David Nilsson, CEO Wsportsmedia.
“The three sites will be the living room for those who like and have a little extra interest in these sports in the Nordic region,” David Nilsson continues.

The Nordic platform will be a natural meeting place for all involved in cross-country skiing and biathlon: fans, elite athletes, recreational athletes and brands. Here it should be easy to communicate to and between the different groups and countries.
“It’s all about continue building the sport and the interest,” says David Nilsson.

Geir Nilsen has been the owner and editor of Langrenn.com for the past eleven years.
“It has been eleven exciting and eventful years as owner and editor of Langrenn.com. There have been sporting successes with Olympic gold and World Cup gold in large numbers for Norway during this period and many Norwegian victories in major classics such as Vasaloppet, Birkebeinerrennet and Marcialonga, says Geir Nilsen.

The new editor when Wsportsmedia takes over the site will be Øyvind Moen Fjeld. The Norwegian ended his active career by finishing fourth in Årefjällsloppet representing the Swedish Pro Team Lager 157 Ski Team this spring. Previously, the 32-year-old Moen Fjeld has also represented Norwegian Team Ragde Eiendom, among other teams, but also has excellent merits from the Norwegian championships. For example, he has been seventh in the 50 km. Moen Fjeld has also raced Holmenkollen 50 km in the World Cup, representing Norway.
“We thank Geir Nilsen for the fantastic job that he has done with Langrenn.com and take over with humility to continue to build interest and develop skiing on narrow skis at all levels,” says Øyvind Moen Fjeld.

Wsportsmedia is a sport marketing firm working across the sport business value chain with offices in Höganäs (HQ), Stockholm, Östersund in Sweden, Oslo Norway, Tampere Finland.
