The Norwegian Ski Association has named ten cross-country skiers for their Equinor national recruiting team for season 2024/2025.

The Norwegian Ski Association has named ten cross-country skiers for their Equinor national recruiting team for season 2024/2025.

According to a press release from the Norwegian Ski Association, the ten cross-country skiers selected (five women and five men) will be part of the Equinor national recruiting team for the upcoming season.

“We have an incredible number of good skiers of the current age and a great breadth in Norwegian cross-country skiing, so it is always difficult to select a recruiting national team. We have chosen to go for continuity and predictability,” says national team manager Ulf Morten Aune.

Skiers eligible for the national recruiting team must have been born in 1999 or younger.

“Especially on the women’s side, it’s important that we have patience with the athletes. We have, therefore, not taken out any first-year seniors. We have several stages in the development ladder that can take care of the youngest senior skiers,” says Aune and adds:

“The Equinor recruitment team is for those who have started establishing themselves. We want to be patient in the development of women’s skiers.”

Norwegian national cross-country skiing team

Earlier last week, the Norwegian Ski Association named 24 cross-country skiers for the para elite, women elite, and men elite teams season 2024/2025.

At the time, National team manager Ulf Morten Aune commented about the selection:

“We want to preserve the national team model. It is incredibly important. It finances everything we do in Norwegian cross-country skiing. Times are changing, so we have to be flexible. When everyone wants it, we make it happen. We have many good skiers in Norway. It is a great task because we have so many good ones, but at the same time, it is sad that you have to disappoint skiers who are good internationally. We know we have to make tough choices. All withdrawals are anchored in the coaching group,” says Aune.
