The Norwegian women’s skiathlon team is presented for the 2023 World Championships in Planica, Slovenia. Ski Classics Pro Tour athlete Astrid Øyre Slind is named.

Planica, Slovenia, is the place for this winter season’s World Championships, with ten competitions in 12 days and the last race being the men’s cross-country skiing 50km mass start race on March 5, 2023.

The Norwegian Ski Association has named their cross-country skiers for tomorrow’s women’s skiathlon race at the World Championships.

“I can confirm that Astrid can go both classic and skating. I think we are a strong team, and I have faith in all four girls,” says national team coach Stig Rune Kveen.

As a Pro Tour skier, Øyre Slind excels in the classic technique (and double-poling) rather than in freestyle, but the 31-year-old Norwegian includes skating as part of her training plan. On the other hand, she is uncertain about the skiathlon race but is already looking forward to it.

“I’m ready. But I’m starting to get a little nervous,” says Øyre Slind after the nomination, and continues:

“I have done a skiathlon maybe ten years ago. I am excited about all the risk factors.”
