“That is the greatest thing you can achieve. It surpasses all the golds I have won,” says Johaug to NRK and continues:

“I think it’s very cool, and then I have to say that I think it’s a little scary. That you don’t quite know what you’re getting into. But I’m looking forward to it. I feel that a lot happened in 2022.”

“I am used to managing my everyday life all by myself, and suddenly there is a completely new boss in the house. It’s a bit of joy mixed with horror,” she says.

Marit Bjørgen is an important supporter of Johaug on several levels and offered some advice.

“I’ve talked a lot with Marit (Bjørgen), so I’ve got some tips on what to look for and what I can train. I have received good follow-up from the people I have worked with, both at the Olympiatoppen and previously,” says Johaug.

At the beginning of March 2022, Therese Johaug announced that she would end her career as a top-class cross-country skier after the season.

In front of the current season, Johaug stepped in as an expert commentator in cross-country skiing for NRK. She wants to continue that job, and according to the plan will be at both the Norwegian National Championships in a couple of weeks and the World Championships in Planica at the end of February, beginning of March.

“I will still take part in the NM (Norwegian National Championships) and WC (World Championships) in Planica. The shape is nice, but I was very tired at the beginning, which was unusual for me. Compared to many others I hear about, I have been very lucky,” says Johaug.
