With 64 days to go until the 2023 World Championships in Planica, Slovenia, the first names for the Swedish National Team were presented.

Planica, Slovenia, is the place for this winter season’s World Championships. The Opening Ceremony will be held on February 21, with ten competitions in 12 days and the last race being the men’s cross-country skiing 50km mass start race on March 5, 2023. 

In a press release, the Swedish Ski Association has named their first cross-country skiers for the upcoming World Championships. Sweden named ten athletes. On the women’s side, Sweden presented seven skiers. On the men’s side, three athletes are already confirmed for the Scandinavian country. 

Edvin Anger and Johanna Hagström are two names that got the green light for the World Championships. 

“Edvin has joined the world elite at this winter’s World Cup competitions, and it will be a lot of fun to follow his progress in the World Championships. It is extra positive to be able to give Johanna Hagström a World Championships ticket already before Christmas. She has shown that she deserves an advance notice based on her fine performances like this at the beginning of the season,” says Anders Byström, the Swedish Ski Association’s cross-country team manager, and continues:

“Today we are giving out ten World Championships tickets, and who gets the last ones will be decided and announced after the World Cup competitions in Les Rousses, France,” concludes Byström.
