Exsitec Ski Team – Pro Team Presentation Season XIV

This Swedish team has six home-grown athletes and one from Norway. There is certainly a great deal of talent on this team, but for some of them, Ski Classics was not on their radar last season.

This Swedish team has six home-grown athletes and one from Norway. There is certainly a great deal of talent on this team, but for some of them, Ski Classics was not on their radar last season.

Konrad Mattson Myhr had a really good day at Vasaloppet last season, as he was 54th there. He also achieved the same result at Ylläs-Levi. Additionally, he showed potential at the Swedish National Championships, where he was 35th in the 15 km classic race and 36th in the 30 km skating race.

Jakob Karlsson had a busy schedule last winter and traveled to eight Pro Tour event destinations. In most of his races, he finished a bit north of the top 60. Gabriel Strid was on the road even more than Jakob, as he managed to be in 11 events. He succeeded well, got to be in the top 50 five times, and had some other really good results, such as Vasaloppet’s 60th place and Reistadløpet’s 61st place. He also finished 33rd in the 50 km classic race at the Swedish Nationals.

Adam Gillman did not choose to take part in any Pro Tour events last winter, but he finished 28th in the 50 km classic race and 37th in the 30 km skating race at the Swedish Nationals. Einar Kalland-Olsen, the team’s Norwegian recruit, did not race much, but he showed that he is capable of great things. He finished 53rd at Marcialonga and 42nd at Vasaloppet.

Moa Lundgren pursued great results at some World Cup and Scandinavian Cup races. She won the Scandinavian Cup sprint competition in Otepää and finished second in the 20 km classic race there. She also finished 14th in the Falun World Cup sprint competition and 38th in the 10 km skating race. She took home a top-10 place at the Swedish Nationals by just finishing 10th in the 10 km classic race.

Emma Ivarson followed Moa’s footsteps and raced in many Scandinavian Cup and Swedish National Championship races. At the Nationals, she was quite strong with her 14th place in the 15 km skating race and 15th place in the 30 km classic race.

This team could actually take the high ground and become a true force in the game. There are talented skiers on the team, but they need to put their focus on long-distance skiing in order to climb higher in the Pro Tour competition. That may not happen as many of these skiers gaze upon success and glory in shorter distances. However, we should not act surprised if some of these skiers knock it out of the park in some races in Season XIV.
