Andrew Musgrave, who has won the previous two editions of the Lysebotn Opp double poling race, started for a hat-trick but finished third.

Lysebotn Opp is 7.5 kilometers long. From the start at the ferry quay in the innermost Lysefjord to the finish line at Øygardstøl, there are 27 hairpin bends and 640 meters of elevation gain. 

Musgrave, who races for the Norwegian Pro Tour team Team Næringsbanken, admits that he had hoped for victory for the third time in a row. 

“I went for the victory, and I thought I could win today,” says Andrew. 

Musgrave finished in a total time of 32:33 and was 20 seconds behind Johan Hoel, Team Ragde Charge, and Herman Paus, Team Ramudden, who sprinted for the top two places on the podium. 

What does Lysebotn Opp mean to you, and how important are the results here?  

“This is an indication of the training you have done, but even though I came third today, I have faith that it will be good for the winter,” says Musgrave and continues:  

“It is the way until the winter that counts. But here there are so many people up on the hill and lots of wonderful audiences, it’s a great place and a wonderful atmosphere, so you want to speed up here,” says Musgrave to Langrenn.com.
