Sweden’s Training Camp Plan For The Cross-Country National Team

The Swedish Ski Association has announced the cross-country national teams’ training camp plan for summer and autumn.

The Swedish Ski Association has announced the cross-country national teams’ training camp plan for summer and autumn.

The Swedish cross-country team started the season in Falun, Sweden, with the Smart Energy Summer Cup on rollerskis. Now the focus is on summer and sustainable training camp season, with fewer travel days and more camps in Sweden.

According to the press release, during the spring, the national team manager Anders Byström conducted evaluations with the national team members to continue developing the activities. Among other things, athletes want more days at home and fewer trips, which has been taken into account in planning training camps and activities during the summer.

The number of camp days has been reduced, and the resources in the places, so-called elite environments, where most national team skiers live have been reviewed.

“We will have four camps where the first starts in Sollefteå the week after midsummer. After that, there will be snow in the ski tunnel in Torsby followed by rollerski competitions at Trollhättan Action Week, which is an important part of keeping the great interest in skiing alive in the summer,” says national team manager Anders Byström.

In September, the national team travels to Planica in Slovenia, where the World Championships will be held the upcoming winter.

“The purpose of visiting the World Championships location is that we want to give the skiers a sense of what it will look like this winter, to get acquainted with the World Championships area and at the same time get really good training in a beautiful environment,” says Anders Byström.

The national team coaching organization consists of eight coaches who work with the various national teams: the A national team, Team BAUHAUS, Team Svenska Spel, Team Svenska Spel Junior national team, and the elite environments in Umeå, Östersund, and Falun. The coaching team will work closely together and overlap each other’s activities more than before for a more sustainable organization with the opportunity to strengthen the follow-up around the skier.

Team Svenska Spel coaches will also be a resource for A-national team athletes and Team BAUHAUS in everyday activities. More time will be spent on skiers at home between national team camps.

“We have a committed and hungry group of national team coaches who will help each other and participate in camps and competitions. It gives us a strong team with a common goal that can contribute to the skier’s development,” says Anders Byström.

The A national team and Team BAUHAUS will have all the camps together to create training groups with many top qualities and can help and develop each other.
