SkiErg Open: Sweden’s first official SkiErg competition
Next Sunday, the Skierg Open will take place at the Craft Arena in Kosta. It will be the first official skierg competition in Sweden, with several Ski Classics Pro Team athletes on the start line.
On Sunday, September 7, the SkiErg Open kicks off at the Craft Arena in Kosta. It will be the first official SkiErg competition on Swedish soil, and the start list features several stars.
The format includes a 5000-meter prologue with ten competitors per heat. The ten best times will qualify for the final, which will also be contested with a mass start, just like the prologue.

- Women’s prologue: 10:00 CET
- Men’s prologue: 12:00 CET
- Finals: 17:00 CET
Pro Team stars on the start line
Several Pro Team stars will be present at the SkiErg Open. Among them are Vasaloppet winners Emil Persson and Andreas Nygaard. Norwegian Mathias Aas Rolid enters as the favorite, having set this year’s fastest time over 5000 meters: 16:06.
Rolid will attempt to beat the current World Record of 15:55.9. Also on the start list are Runar Skaug Mathiesen, winner of Marcialonga last year, and Ski Classics overall champion Ole Jørgen Bruvoll.
On the women’s side, the fastest time belongs to Tjejvasan 2026 winner Jenny Larsson (18:23), who also holds the World Record. She will be challenged by Ski Classics overall winner Anikken Gjerde Alnæs, as well as Karolina Hedenström and Hanna Lodin.

The competition will be held at the Craft Arena and broadcast on Vasaloppet-TV.
