The cross-country skiing World Cup season 2024/2025 continues this week in Lillehammer, Norway. The Swedish national team is now named.

Lillehammer, Norway, is the place for the second stage of the cross-country skiing World Cup season 2024/2025. The event starts on Friday, December 6, with a 10km interval start race in freestyle technique. On Saturday, December 7, it’s time for a sprint race in freestyle technique. And on Sunday, December 8, the World Cup in Lillehammer ends with a 20km skiathlon race.

In a press release, the Swedish Ski Association has named their cross-country ski team for the upcoming World Cup in Lillehammer. Sweden will start with 25 skiers.

“The first competition weekend in the World Cup gave us a good start with, among other things, victories for Johanna Hagström and Frida Karlsson. Now we have evaluated Ruka and are getting ready for really tough opposition in Lillehammer, where the host country can field twelve skiers in each race,” says the Swedish national team manager Anders Byström, and adds:

“The squad is quite similar to the one that got the chance in Finland, but since some sprinters choose to stand over Friday’s competition to recharge for Saturday’s sprint, there will be openings for some new names.”

“Two Junior World Champions from last season get the chance in Lillehammer. Evelina Crüsell was fifth in the premiere in Bruksvallarna, and Alvar Myhlback gets to try the skiathlon on Sunday after even races during the premiere weekend. In the sprint, Anton Grahn comes in and makes his season debut in the World Cup,” concludes Anders Byström.
