The Ski Classics Challengers event Vaajmarathon is just one month away. The 42-kilometer classic roller ski race is set to take place on Saturday, August 16, 2025.

Vaajmarathon is a unique roller ski race that crosses the Norwegian-Swedish border. The 42km event is part of the Ski Classics Challengers circuit and a seeding race for Vasaloppet.

Celebrating the seventh edition in 2025, Vaajmarathon takes place in the beautiful area of Hotagen, only 100km from Östersund. The 42km race starts in Mebygda, Norway, and the organizers invite both professional and recreational skiers to a roller ski event crossing the Norwegian-Swedish border to finish in Rötviken, Sweden.

According to the Local Organizing Committee (LOC), Vaajmarathon is Sweden’s most beautiful roller ski race. It inspires an active lifestyle and showcases the possibility of roller skiing in a unique environment, featuring a course close to the mountains and stunning scenery.

“We are excited to be part of the Ski Classics Challengers. We firmly believe that this unique race, with its border crossing and beautiful surroundings, has a bright future.

Being part of the Ski Classics family means a lot to us. It provides an opportunity and support to help the race grow,” says the LOC.

Shorter races of 15 and 25km are also available.
