The Lake Lipno region offers an excellent setting for roller skiing

Lake Lipno
Saturday, the 55km roller ski event Energamo Lipnolopet took place in the Czech Republic, right on the border between Austria and Germany. The Ski Classics Challengers event was run in excellent conditions, and the area is great for skiers to train in the summer and autumn.

Teemu Virtanen, editor-in-chief of Maastohiihto.com, got to know the Lake Lipno region and the village of Frymburk while traveling to be a commentator for the Energamo Lipnolopet event live-streamed on SC Play. The village and the whole area surprised the experienced journalist, who also had the opportunity to test the Lipnolopet racecourse and the cycle path around the lake.

Virtanen also got to know the skiers from the Vltava Fund Ski Team, Fabián Štoček, and Jan Šrail, who were happy to talk about their lives and skiing in general. After the race, the skiers gathered for the closing ceremony of the roller ski season, which also included the Lipnolopet podium skiers: winner Thomas Bing, runner-up Andreas Nygaard, and third place Stanislav Řezáč, who at 50 is still in great shape.

In tomorrow’s article, you can look closer at what Lake Lipno offers from a skier’s perspective and read about what went on behind the scenes at Lipnolopet.
