Team Engcon For The New Season: “I’m Very Satisfied”

Team Engcon
Ida Dahl won Ski Classics Season XIV overall. Now, Team Engcon has set its sights on victory in the Pro Team competition, and the group for the coming season is complete. “I’m very satisfied with the team we have built,” says Pro Team Director Jerry Ahrlin.

Team Engcon is already ending the season’s first training camp, and now the athletes that will represent the Pro Team this winter have been named.

Still on the team is last season’s overall winner Ida Dahl, who has one year left on her contract with Team Engcon. In addition, Tove Ericsson is also in the women’s squad. Ericsson, who will step up as a senior next winter, made some inroads in Ski Classics last winter and took a podium place at Orsa Grönklitt.

In addition, the team has brought in Hanna Lodin from Ski Team Göhlins, who had a solid season and, among other results, finished ninth at Vasaloppet.

“We have a very exciting women’s team. Ida is, of course, focusing on the yellow bib. Alongside her, Tove will fully commit to Ski Classics this winter. She showed in the races last winter the potential she has in long races. And the same applies to Hanna, who has only been skiing for a few years but has shown enormous potential,” says Pro Team Director Jerry Ahrlin.

Last season’s Team Engcon athletes Linn Sömskar and Frida Hallquist may join the team during the season but will not commit to the entire Ski Classics season.

On the men’s side, Eddie Edström and Anton Elvseth have another year on their contracts. In addition, three “new Norwegians” join the Pro Team.

  • Johan Tjelle, the 28-year-old who, among other results, was fifth in the 50km in the Norwegian Championships last year.
  • Ole Jørgen Bruvoll, also 28-year-old, was eighth at Reistadløpet last season and won Flyktingrennet, a Ski Classics Challengers event, a season ago.
  • Amund Hoel, who raced the World Cup sprint in Beitostølen last winter.

“Amund Hoel (brother of Team Ragde Charge’s Johan Hoel, winner of the Climb bib Season XIV) is a big and strong skier. Very fast, he will be able to score many sprint points, and the hope is that he will fight for the Green bib. Then both Johan and Ole Jørgen are real capacity skiers with great potential,” says Ahrlin, who has a clear goal:

“This team is so strong that we aim to fight for victory in the team competition. I am very satisfied with the team we have assembled,” says Ahrlin.
