Ski Classics Challengers Season XVII is underway!
The Ski Classics Pro Tour Season XVI ended last weekend with Reistadløpet and the Grand Finale Summit 2 Senja. Still, the Ski Classics Challengers Season XVII is already underway.
The new Ski Classics Challengers season started last weekend, with the first event being Nordenskiöldsloppet in Sweden.
The upcoming Challengers events are the Arctic Circle Race, Kobberløpet, Lofsdalen Epic, Sovereign 2 SilverStar Classic and Skate this weekend, and Lapponia Ski Week, Blåvegenløpet, Tana-Varangerrennet, and Fossavatnsgangan next week. Pro Team athletes can already collect points for Season XVII at the Ski Classics Champion and Youth competitions in their respective genders.
According to the Ski Classics Rules & Regulations, all Pro Team athletes may calculate the single best result from a Ski Classics Challengers event per season in the Champion and Youth bib competitions. Challengers event points are handed out according to the Rules and Regulations.
SC Ranking
Everyone participating in Ski Classics, Pro Tour or Challengers events, recreational and professional skiers can connect their profile to the Ski Classics results database, called MyPages.
MyPages can be connected for free. In the profile, you can view your Ski Classics event results, collect pins, print diplomas, and analyze your results with friends in the SC Ranking system. You collect points according to your performance and are rewarded with pins and diplomas in your profile.
One of the central features of MyPages is that you get your global SC Ranking. The SC Ranking is a live updated international ranking, unique in combining women and men, professional and recreational skiers in one single list!
Get to know how the SC Ranking system works!
The SC Ranking points are calculated on the percentual time as the skier is behind the winning time in their gender with an exponential drop of points. This makes it possible to create one single ranking for both women and men, professional and recreational skiers.
Each skier can include results from their best 12 races within 24 months. The woman or man with the most points will have the #1 rank. In a Ski Classics Pro Tour event, the winning woman and man receive 2.000.000 points; in a Challengers event, the winners collect 500.000 points.
For the Pro Team athletes, Podium Bonus Points are also awarded to the top three skiers in each gender. A Pro Tour event winner gets 200.000 points, 2nd place brings 100.000 points, and 3rd place awards 40.000 points.
As a registered user (register for free), you can filter places based on nationality, age group, and gender by using the Filter Tab on the view set on your page.
Qualification for the Ski Classics Grand Finale
Recreational skiers outside the Pro Teams can be part of the Ski Classics Grand Finale.
Qualification criteria must be met to register. When qualified, one of the limited start places can be acquired.
Qualification Criteria
The skier must have completed a Ski Classics race from the current season:
- One Pro Tour event within the winner’s time plus 50% (in each gender).
- Two Challengers events within the winner’s time plus 50% (in each gender).
Once you meet the qualification criteria, the Grand Finale pin will appear on your SC MyPages, allowing you to register for the event. You can access SC MyPages through the Ski Classics webpage. To get the pin into your MyPages profile, connect to the Ski Classics database, which will give you access to all your Ski Classics Pro Tour and Challengers events results, saved in one place!
