Austria is ready to host the Pro Teams and their athletes once again as Ski Classics Season XVII kicks off in Bad Gastein on Saturday, December 13, 2025, with the return of a familiar and exciting format: the Bad Gastein Pro Team Tempo.

On Saturday morning, the Ski Classics Pro Tour Season XVII officially begins in Sportgastein with a 7-kilometer Pro Team Tempo – PTT event, marking the first race of the season and an important showcase moment for Pro Teams, athletes, and partners.

The Bad Gastein Pro Team Tempo returns to the calendar after a one-year break and offers a fast-paced, tactical format. Organized as an interval start competition with block starts, with the Pro Teams seeded according to their Pro Team ranking from the previous season. A 4-minute gap separates the blocks, and female athletes start 30 seconds after their male teammates. The team’s second-ranked male and second-ranked female finishing times are used for classification. In addition, individual points will be handed out in a new way.

“We are delighted to host the Ski Classics Prologue for the fourth time, welcoming both Pro Team athletes and recreational skiers. Sportgastein offers the ideal conditions for a fantastic start to the season with the Pro Team Tempo on Saturday. For recreational skiers who want to be part of Ski Classics, there is the Gastein Classics, offering again two race options: 15km and 30km. In addition, all participants and guests can enjoy a varied supporting program,” says Lisa Loferer, CEO of Gastein Classics.
